Brief Summary of the ACCE Research Training Program (RTP)
One of the goals of ACCE is to develop a cadre of well-trained investigators who will continue to address elimination of CVD health developed a training program in which nine applicants (transitional faculty, junior faculty, or post doctoral fellows) completed this year’s 12-month program which trained them in the basic tools of clinical, community, and outcomes research, informed by bioethics and cross-cultural training. The training program includes biostatistics, epidemiology, equity and disparity assessment, behavioral interventions, quality of care measurement and improvement, bioethics, cross-cultural issues, and mentoring. The program includes courses, workshops, research projects working with a mentor, and a series of lectures/discussions. Scholars also have access to two online courses, one in biostatistics and the other in epidemiology. The training program culminates with a week-long grant-writing retreat during which the scholors focused on developing a grant proposal to submit for extramural funding.
