Monthly Career Development Support Group
In collaboration with the Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Division of Preventive Medicine, the MHRC co-sponsor a monthly career development seminar that is attended regularly by approximately 20 UAB junior faculty and young investigators from varied disciplines.
The objectives of this group are to foster collaborations and elicit new ideas for research proposals, and to facilitate the formation of manuscript writing groups. It Includes a diverse group of junior faculty including physicians, dentists, nurses, statisticians, basic scientists and other PhDs (researchers), from the Schools of Dentistry, Nursing, Optometry, Public Health and Medicine, and the Divisions of Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Gyn Oncology, and Gerontology, as well as Preventive Medicine.
It meets each month to:
- Provide encouragement and motivation,
- Inspire investigators to pursue research applications, and
- Stimulate investigators to publish papers on their work.
These meetings provide an informal non-threatening environment in which junior investigators can present, discuss, and get feedback on new research ideas, manuscripts preparation, and development of new proposals.
