Research Program
The research program facilitates and assists investigators of varied disciplines to compete effectively for minority-related research programs and will identify opportunities for new investigators of health disparity research. It includes investigators of varied disciplines who have already demonstrated their special interest and success in minority health research.
The Research Program is working on extending disparity research to include other chronic diseases such as cardiovascular, diabetes and obesity. This program is also developing research to include Latino and Asian populations in addition to African American.

Alabama Collaboration for Cardiovascular Equality (ACCE)
The overall theme of this study is the reduction of disparities in cardiovascular disease (CVD) outcomes through equity in prevention, with the ultimate goal of attaining equality in cardiovascular health. Community Health Advisors in Action Program (CHAAP)
The Community Health Advisors in Action Program (CHAAP), funded by the Avon Foundation, under Principal Investigator Mona Fouad, MD, MPH, is a pilot study that uses trained community volunteers to assist underserved women who receive an abnormal breast cancer screen in adhering to follow-up recommendations from their physicians. Morehouse School of Medicine/ Tuskegee University/ UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center Partnership
The purpose of this partnership is to develop and sustain a collaboration between the University of Alabama Comprehensive Cancer Center (UAB), Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM), and Tuskegee University (TU).
