We believe that community leaders can identify health issues and concerns among various ethnic groups in their respective communities. Community leaders understand the culture of the community in which
they take pride and ownership in its growth and wellbeing.
Key community leaders volunteered to assist the MHRC in establishing a Community Advisory Board to support the development and advancement of the MHRC. The Board serves as a link between the community and the Center providing leadership, guidance, and ideas for reaching and improving the health of minorities and the underserved in communities throughout the State of Alabama.
Goal Of Community Advisory Board
Educate MHRC leadership on the healthcare needs of the community, advise on the priorities and serve as liaison with community organizations, public and private entities and initiatives to leverage the resources towards eliminating health disparities.
Some of the main activities include:
General community outreach and education
Providing feedback on current and future health initiatives
Advising MHRC investigators regarding community needs and barriers related
to seeking healthcare
