Ann Smith, MPH, is a Program Manager with UAB Preventive Medicine and is the lead staff for the Research and Training Programs of the Minority Health & Research Center (MHRC). She manages several research training and career development programs including those under the NCI-funded Deep South Network for Cancer Control and the Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM)/ Tuskegee University (TU)/ UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center Partnership. In addition, Ms. Smith manages the training program for the Alabama Collaboration for Cardiovascular Equality (ACCE), and oversees another training program with the UAB EXPORT Project. Most of these projects aim to develop young researchers to pursue careers in health disparities research. She also manages a Cultural Competency Curriculum Development grant that will produce online modules for physician training, and Manos Juntas, a Hispanic/Latino mentoring program under the MHRC. She works closely with Dr. Mona Fouad in managing the MHRC Research Training and Career Development Support Group, a mentoring and training program for junior faculty and young investigators.
